Student Expectations

Circulation

Students may check out up to 2 books at a time for a period of 2 weeks if you have your ID.  Students without IDs can check out only 1 book at a time.  Books may be renewed twice.  Students with overdue materials are limited to checking out 1 item at a time.

Behavior

Our library is used by everyone in the school. Be respectful of students choosing books or studying, classes researching and learning, and other events happening in our library.   Make sure that your noise level and interactions match the activity you're doing in our library.  The same high expectations for behavior in other classrooms apply to our library classroom as well and the same consequences exist.  Show your Nighthawk PRIDE!

Computer Use

Students have access to the computers in our library for academic purposes.  Your pass should indicate that you're to use the computers during  your visit.  Make use of the Research resources and tech tools available under the Students tab on our website.  Please make sure you check with Mrs. James or Mrs. Cochran before you print.  Let us know if there are any problems with equipment or websites.  We are here to help you!

Internet/AUP

All CCSD students must have a signed AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) to access online materials.  The AUP states that you are to use the internet responsibly and only for educational purposes.  Any misuse of the internet could result in your online privileges being revoked.   There are many  useful materials online, but you need to exercise caution and protect your digital footprint at all times.  CCSD has internet filtering software installed on all computers and iPads for your safety and to meet federal CIPA (Child Internet Protection Act) guidelines.

Academic Integrity

The internet provides easy access to a wide variety of information.  In the library, we want to help you find and use the best information possible from books, videos, pictures, and the internet.  Once you've located great information, it is your responsibility as a student to avoid plagiarism by putting  everything in your own words and giving proper credit to all of your sources.  IF YOU DIDN"T CREATE IT, YOU HAVE TO CITE IT!  Ask Mrs. James or your teachers if you need help.  You can get citation help on the Research page.
